Exoplanet Explorer 2.5.7: Free flight
This week’s update enables free flight mode as seen in Solar Explorer. This lets you use traditional thumb-stick style touch controls to fly around any of the solar systems you can visit in the app.
Free flight mode can only be activated while in a system, near a planet. This is restricted because of the way navigation is handled when zoomed out, and when travelling through interstellar space. You’ll know that free flight mode is an option because the toolbar will show the familiar bird silhouette icon from Solar Explorer.
While in free flight mode, you can still access the filtering, statistics and planet information features of the app. If you leave the system you are in, free flight mode will be deactivated.
There’s a new a new preset filter for finding the most recently updated planets in the HD version of Exoplanet Explorer. This will show a list of the planets that have been added to the database since the last update.
Finally, a couple of bug fixes. Hopefully the intermittent problem with System Info vanishing is now gone for good. I’ve also fixed a minor audio bug that caused sound effects to be disabled when music was turned off.
