Rockets of the Space Race: App coding has commenced

Software development is a very time consuming process and it’s all too easy to get caught up working on something, only to find out it’s not suitable for the task further down the track.

To avoid that trap, I’ve started work on the app code so that I can import the first couple of rocket models and make sure the design I’ve come up will actually work, and look good.

With the basics in place, I’ve now been able to import the first model I created, the V2. I’d estimate that it’s about 90% complete with a few more tweaks still needed, mostly small changes to the technique I’m using to construct the model, which will then be used for subsequent ones.

The previous images I posted were renders done in Blender, whereas the image below is the first one from the actual app engine.

I’m quite happy with the result, but there’s still lots to do. There’s no UI and no background for starters…
