A stunning development

In a stunning development, Solar Explorer just made it to the position of #1 paid app on AppWorld for the Playbook.

I didn’t expect that.

Thanks for all the support :)

You’re only 2 back of Angry Birds!

It’s dropped a bit since then, but for a few minutes yesterday I did see it ahead of Angry Birds on AppWorld. That’s not something I thought would ever happen on any platform!

I love SolarExplorer on the PlayBook. Makes science fun and engaging. Liquid graphics and moving music make it a joy to use.

bought this app 2 days ago and love it. wonderful to see talented devs showcasing the power of the platform. can’t wait to see more! just curious…how have you done in terms of total downloads with Blackberry vs. Android thus far? safe to say that Blackberry is the more profitable platform for you?

    • http://apps.burlock.org Neil B

I don’t have exact figures because of problems with the AppWorld reports, but the total is now somewhere around 1,000 sales in 16 days vs 3,500 in 10 months on Android Market.

There’s more to it than that though as the current app is much better than the one that launched on Android Market 10 months ago. Playbook users have had the benefit of a lot of beta testing by Android users.

Despite that, I have little doubt that if my app were just in the top 25 paid educational apps (not in the top 10 overall like it is now), then daily sales on Playbook would still beat Android.

I’ll write up a full analysis in a few weeks once things settle down.

Lots of fun and a great addition to the playbook staple of apps. From a Canuck in Nova Scotia

Hi Neil, just wanted to ask you, how much time does it take between the app has approved email and confirming PlayBook shipment email?
Just got my app approved, and I still haven’t received shipment confirmation email, but I’m so excited and can’t wait

    • http://apps.burlock.org Neil B

It was about five days between app approval and receiving the address request. I thought they’d forgotten me.

It was a further 14 days form the shipping announcement till it arrived. Most of the time was taken by the wagon train of snails collecting it from RIM’s warehouse.
